Young is a fairly good story teller, but as many of the writers of his time he can be flowery. Some of the information was new to me and that was interesting. He dealt with most of the well known Calvary leaders of the south.|0 of 0 people fou|About the Author|Bennett Young was a Kentuckian who joined the cavalry command of John Hunt Morgan at the age of eighteen. He was captured and sent to Canada as a prisoner, where he escaped and led twenty-five Confederates on a raid against St. Albans, Vermont.
The Confederate cavalrymen, with their chivalric manners and death-defying exploits, were the last of their kind to take part in large-scale military conflict. Included are chapters on J. E. B. Stuart, Nathan Bedford Forrest, Wade Hampton, John Mosby, John Hunt Morgan, and many more.
